Awards

The Gorean Voice recognizes, that there are a lot of web pages claiming to be Gorean. In viewing many, if not most of them, we find few that follow closely the writings, of John Norman, and tend to portray the html authors' vision of Gor. In that light, The Gorean Voice has an award that will be given monthly , to sites, that in its' opinion, are NOT representative of the Gorean way; but in fact are grossly false, or misleading. Fill out the application below, to have a gorean web site considered for this very prestigious award.

The Month of September 1999 this awards goes to......taaa, daaaaaa (bugles blare) -- and because there are so many we have TWO winners this month   gosh if we gave 10 ! awards, we'd have more nominations left

Nominators name:Kuurus
I Nominate: Jewel of Gleaming Thassa
URL: http://heaven.beautyscastle.com/gor
Why?:False information on page, and terrible chat site
Description: In chat site: the former Ubara saw fit to change her status to Tatrix. I may be wrong on this point, but I recall reading that Tatrixes only exist in Tharna, while this site is located in Port Kar.

Companionship ceremonies are performed and recognized even though in the books, Companions aren't recognized. Female Companions are referred to as the Women of their Men.

Kajuralia is celebrated, when in the books Port Kar does not observe the holiday.

Assassins make their home there, yet in the books they are found taking up home only in Ar.

slaves of the Tavern are guarded. not sure what for.

People carry quivas, a weapon of the Wagon People, whom they claim to dislike.

Panther Girls roam there from time to time, when it is clear in the books that it is not only unwise, but not safe for them to do so if they wish to be free from a collar. Try to collar one, and be prepared to get banned. They consider them respectable Free Women.

Jewel encrusted collars.

White silks are considered "reserved for their owners"

Slaves in training are given silks, when silks are not only expensive, but also inspire lust in Free Men, which would encourage the rape of a slave who does not yet know how to please a Master. Unowned slaves give themselves silks, slave bells, belly bracelets, and so on. Some wear black if not owned (when slaves are to own nothing), some wear white to prevent being used, and some deem themselves worthy of red.

The tasting of food and drink, when slaves are not to place their mouths where the mouth of a the Free will soon touch.

Submissives from the Dungeon are permitted to enter and pretend to be kajirae at will.

Slaves often get away with touching coins, attempting cyber suicide, stealing serves and dances, and disrespecting Free Persons.

The former first girl insulted a Master by calling Him "the equivalent of an Urthen mule" and was given her status that very day.

The common use of the term rask to describe one's bottom, when Rask of Treve is a Master in the books.

Larls being kept as pets, when larls are known to be fierce, and even if trained they eventually turn on the one who trained them and escape into the wild. But they are allowed in the Tavern, and slaves may own them as well.

Several descriptions of positions and food on their page are inaccurate. In one instance a slave was killed for supposedly stealing breeding wine to carry the child of an Ubar from another site, which later proved to be false, but carry a cyber baby?

Certain Masters are reprimanded for disciplining slaves who have displeased them. Example: One slave made a rude remark to a Master, and continued her behavior after being warned. The Master in turn cut her hair. She threw a tantrum, and the Master was scolded for being "too harsh".

One must visit the site in order to see the full extent of it. www.beautyscastle.com Enter handle and password, select Entrance to Gor, scroll down rules page and click enter.

AND

Nominated by: ra`lana{Ah}, Property of Master Ahntuuk
I Nominate:url: http://www.angelfire.com/sc/slaverscaste/sc.html
Why?: There was so much information on the site that is NOT representative of the Gorean way, that ra`lana was almost overwhelmed on were to begin.

This girls Master told her to start with the info about Taverns vs Safe Havens...

"Tavern vs Safe Havens

Unless a room is designated a Safe Haven a Slaver may conduct business within, including selling and purchasing of slaves. (There are only 2 safe havens and they are: Kajira Gardens and Kajira Waterfalls)

Slavers WILL NOT ko'lar or capture in safe havens...... Period.

Any Tavern or area not explicitly named with "Kajira" that wishes to be considered a Safe Haven, must submit said guidelines to this Caste to be kept on file."

There was also some interesting information about silks and the meaning of the color.

"Slave Silks and Status

Black Silks

A black silk kajira is another adaptation to AOL Gor and should not be encouraged.

Black silks are ko'larless slaves and seen out of a safe haven will be ko'lared.

What may be mistaken, on occasion, for a black silk, are what is known as she-urts. These freewomen, who for some reason or another, spend their days begging and or selling themselves for money. They are usually donned in rags and may be thieves as well. They will be ko'lared for their actions."

As if that was not enough, the webMistress Fatimma goes on to say this about an abandoned slave...

"On Abandoned slaves:

Only slaves of Masters that have deleted and have no House can be declared abandoned.

Only after a slave has been abandoned 2 weeks do the Slavers step in.

The slave stays with one member of the Slaver's Caste for the period of one week and in White Silks while we try to contact her Master.

The High Seats of the Slaver's Caste will determine time for the auction of the slave."

So for those slaves wishing to become born again virgins, just make sure your Master abandons you and you get to be white silk again. ~grins~ The following is interesting information for Masters or Mistress that wish to catch a slave or slaves that wish to set themselves free.

"On Stealing a slave

Stealing is part of a Slaver's business. It is in no way personal to the victim or target.

Though it is a rarity, it is far from unheard of.

A steal is the taking of another's property in this case, a ko'lared slave.

The Slaver must state the full SN of the mark when stealing.

The only remedy for a steal is an RM or the legitimate retrieval of the slave.

After a steal the slave Must turn off IM's and may not give out their location...... Period.

The Slaver then must send a scroll to the owner or House stating the steal, at which time, said owner will have 24 hours from the time the scroll is "read" or 7 days from the time the scroll is sent, whichever comes first, to respond and schedule a RM.

This of course may be circumstantial and any dispute will be reviewed by the High Seats.

A log must be provided for any and all steals.

The Slaver may not change the name of, maim, kill or conduct any sale or trade of the slave until the steal has been approved by the High Seats of the Caste.

Nor can they make use of the said stolen slave."

"Release Match of a slave:

**Any individual captured or collared will have three mun days to demand a release match [RM]. The release match must be held within seven mun days

This match is fought to a score of 15.

The Slaver uses 2d21; the challenger uses his/her Caste dice.

The victor of this match to retrieve the target or victim in question.

This match must be proctored.

ALL Matches must be moved to a private room after engagement. The only exception being, StreetofBrands Tavern, which is owned and operated by the Slaver's Caste."

Hmmmm and all this time ra`lana thought she was property, little did she know that all she had to do was demand a release match and then toss some dice, and waa la...Free. There are also guidelines to capturing a free person. Seems this site refers to captures of free persons, and nothing about capture of slaves.

"Guidelines:

Cloak SN's will be used ONLY for organized raids and or risk apparent contracts. Any Slaver found using the cloak without prior approval will have their membership revoked and any slaves acquired during the use of the name released.

Slaver's will not abuse their ko'laring rights by ko'laring freepeople for reasons of personal vengeance nor will they ko'lar without legitimate contract. With the exception of clean provocation (to be determined by the High Seats) that can not be handled in other ways."

So there you have it, how to be a Gorean Slave Trader in 10 easy rolls of the dice..
