A Tarn’s Eye View

Tal! Welcome to the 75th issue of The Gorean Voice.

In this Issue

The Art department features Vanion, who offers us a look into the Windows to her Soul and a glimpse of a statuesque response to a Midnight Summons. He also portrays the feeling of being Defenseless.

In the Booknotes department, Socrates continues Explorers of Gor as Tarl meets the villains.

Mishel’s superb Crossword Puzzles continue to delight our readership, this month with the theme of Beasts of Gor.

In the Philosophy department, Nyre presents A Code of Strength, so essential to the successful living of all the other Codes.

The Poetry department highlights love and relationship. In Time, Shellfish offers a starkly honest exposure of the heart of a committed woman for the man she believes to be the right man for her, revealing words that every man should hear and understand, especially if in a Free Companion type of relationship. In Wailing Wall, I provide a meditation of love being intended to be an arena of joy and grace.

Always insightfully practical, kaylee{G} affirms the value of experience in the Slave Heart department.

Meditation: Love is a Goal

The final lines of Witness of Gor portray a man and kajira acknowledging love, as do the final lines of Assassin, Tribesmen, Slave Girl, Beasts, and Guardsman. The love spoken of was not the product of a momentary meeting, but rather grew out of sharing lives.

Love is often shown in the Books to be an ideal both reachable and worthy of aspiring to. It is not exploitation but is instead a mutual realization that fulfills both partners. Love animates. Love haunts. Love provides a cause and direction to its cause.

The Gorean psyche is described as being openly deeply emotional, as it is Gorean to permit intense feelings. Just as tarsk and black wine are said to be extreme in flavor compared to pressed watered ham and commercialized American supermarket brands of coffee, so, too, love, such as love of citizenship, of fandom (races, games, Kaissa), and of Caste, are elemental to life.

What do you truly love? Is there something about what you truly love that could be appropriately shared with others via The Gorean Voice or in some other way that would engage others who are, as Norman phrased it, “of a Gorean nature”?

Watch for This

The Free Woman, Reviews, Geography, Health, and Kajira Korner departments will return, and the Interviews department will be making its reappearance.

Because there are always proposed contributions in progress, The Gorean Voice is preparing other really nice surprises for you as well.

Possibilities for Contributors

There are many possibilities for contributors. If any of these departments appeals to you as a place where you might find a writing or other artistic niche, and of course, if you have ideas for a new feature and are willing to help, then read the guidelines for authors and let us know! Although some possibilities are more appropriate for one person to manage over time, many departments benefit from many contributors. Even if you are thinking about contributing only once, say, through Gorean humor or a book review or perhaps a poem, you should still contact me.
