Pleasing Tresses

By lissa

Greetings Masters,
Greetings Mistresses,
Hello slaves,

This month lissa has decided to speak about something a little different. Hair care. As an astounding number of men wish for and demand long hair of their girls, lissa thought it would be a great opportunity to put her profession to use and give a little advice as well. Having been a cosmetologist for over 15 years lissa believes the key to beautiful, healthy tresses is maintenance.

Most, if not all men seem to prefer long hair on women, and with that can come various problems. The number 1 problem being the lack of haircuts in general. In order to continue to grow and maintain, long, beautiful tresses, a trim of at the very least ½inch every 4 to 6 weeks is needed. It will keep the split ends from splitting up the hairshaft and causing tangles that are more than often, “ripped” through when one happens. The term split ends is often misleading. Most people think of split ends as something that only happens at the end of the hairshaft. This is not always true. While the ends of the hair are often the first to split and become noticable, if not taken care of properly they will continue to split all the way to the root, causing the loss of more hair, or those little pieces that people like to call “new growth”. Hair does grow in cycles, and on occasion you will find new growth as hair sheds itself from old to new, but it is not something that should be blantantly obvious. Broken hair from lack of care is generally what you are seeing, and unless you maintain your hair, it will not be pleasing to anyone.

As summer nears and you find yourself no longer swimming or being in the sun, you will also find the effects of both of those upon your hair, along with the normal wear and tear we put it through. One of the best ways to begin to bring your hair back to it’s shiny luster, is to buy a good clarifing shampoo and use it anywhere from once to 3 times a week, depending on the amount of buildup. Also buying a good conditioner will help to tame the cuticle and add that shine back into your hair. Giving it that silky, smooth look. There are also a number of products on the market that specifically add shine to the hair. They are found in the finishing lines of products and include pomade, spray shine, and waxes.

For specialized help as well as products to fit your type of hair, lissa highly reccommends consulting a hair stylist. They are trained to spot problem areas and help ensure that you get the best out of your hair. lissa realizes that budgets often come into play when it comes to hair, but it’s really worth it to treat your hair properly so that you’ll not be faced one day with you telling a hairstylist to cut off the dead stuff, and then you seeing yourself with much shorter hair.

Wishing everyone a wonderful day and beautiful hair.

always,

lissa
