Tal and greetings everyone, It seems that lately the boards have been overflowing with talk of free women and slaves I hope that will not cause an overload and stop you from reading my little column this month :( Aside from the usual Free or slave debate on the boards there were a couple of questions that I had meant to address in this month’s column which pertains to the attitude of FW’s online and to their role and place in Gorean society. Deserving, earning and maintaining respect What many women coming into Gor as a free women do not realize is the fact that freedom is a privilege not a right. When entering the world of Gor, a woman should first and foremost learn this concept "Gor is a man's world". Men rule Gor, they make and break the rules, it’s their world not yours, slave or free women are only allowed in by the grace of men. While you may walk in this world without a collar, your status will be bestowed on you by men according to your behavior. Act like a Free woman and you will be treated as such, act like a slave and, collar or not, you will be labeled a slave. (On a side note a comment came up on the boards about FW’s expressing their sexuality online. While I will address this subject in another column, I feel I should mention that, while I do not think a woman’s sexuality should be curbed, it not my belief that FW’s should be allowed to express their sexuality in an open channel). The second concept I would suggest women learn is “All women are pleasing to men”, that does not mean that men find all women pleasing but that all women should strive to “be” pleasing to men. How do we as Free Women achieve this? It’s not that difficult actually, just remind yourself of why you chose to come to Gor in the first place, remind yourself of what drew you to seek the company of Gorean men. I am speaking of the hunger for the return to “the natural order of things”. Many women online seem to feel this applies only to men “they” have decided fit their description of Goreans… That is not so ladies, for while some of the men you meet online and most of those you deal with offline may not really grasp or even acknowledge “the natural order of things”, you do and your actions should reflect that. In case you have forgotten it ( the natural order is that… Women are subservient to men… Men are dominant, women are submissive. It is quite hard to convince someone you are a Christian if the only place you practice charity is while in church. Before you speak, think… does it matter if the man is of inferior intellect? Does it really matter if he has less knowledge then you? Or does the only thing that matter is that… he’s a man? And you’re a woman? Keep in mind that here I’m speaking of your everyday interaction with men in general, not a particular one that you may be interested in as a FC, because in that particular situation… your heart will speak louder than your mind. So which is of greater import to you? Showing up to a man? Proving your superior intellect over a certain man? Flaunting your greater knowledge? Or being a woman… sooner or later, your intelligence and knowledge will be seen there is no need to prove them. I’m sure you are wondering where the part of “Deserving, earning and maintaining respect” comes in… is that why we came here? ( Being true to yourself (what you pretend/claim to be) there is no other way to gain respect here on Gor. Should Free Women be held accountable by the community? Punishment of the free. We all err, we are human… but what happens to a Free woman who disrespect a man? Online the question of disciplining FW’s brings up a problem. Without having read the books, I am quite certain that in the event of her forgetting her place a FW was quickly put back into it (resoundingly) by her FC should she have one, by her father or brothers, by the men in her city and even by the other FW of her family. I do mean to read the books and have an order on their way to me as I speak. The problem is that I live in Haiti and there are no english library and shipping takes a long time Rare are those of us online, that come fully equipped with a family to put us back on the right track. The Gorean men online for the most part watch us flounder with relish, it’s not their jobs to set us straight… they would much rather see us drive ourselves right into a collar. So who’s job is it to straighten and discipline the FW online? I would venture that it’s first the FW’s own job and second the community of FW’s online. Why? Because each time a FW “acts out” it reflects on us as a group… I would have suggested that (just like slaves) a FW’s actions be reported to the channel she claims as home or her FC so that she can be dealt with accordingly. I’ve noticed however for the most part those that do not have a FC, usually do not have a home channel (perhaps I’m wrong). The manner of discipline is also hard to answer, how do you discipline a FW online? I make those suggestions on the assumption that if a FW is really seeking to be part of this community then she will accept whatever sanctions are given to her and honor her commitment. I do however realize that a lot of women online are not really FW’s, I think it will be just one more way to weed out the players from the lifers. Freedom is a privilege not a right, a misstep does cost you even if you do not see it reflected in the steel of a collar around your neck (since slave is consensual), you will see it reflected in the manner of interaction with those around you. and greetings everyone, It seems that lately the boards have been overflowing with talk of One way or the other, it will bring to the fore of your personality should you persevere and endure, that which men seek in women (free or slave)… your feminine side. They will not settle for less, you will not be allowed to be anything else.
