A Tarn’s Eye View Tal! Welcome to the 86th issue of The Gorean Voice.
In this Issue In the Booknotes department, Socrates begins the final book of the Jason Marshall saga, Guardsman of Gor. Many people find the three Jason books difficult, owing to the painful slowness of Jason’s transformation from Earthling to Gorean, and the wit and ease with which Socrates conveys the tale adds to the pleasure of re-reading the novels. This installment features exciting river-based battle action. BKHOOK again favors the Art department, this time with a glimpse into ... or, is it out of? ... an eerie Pit of Darkosis. The Guest department welcomes back Luther, who offers a differing view of Gorean greetings. As readers recall, the Guest department has just completed a three-installment work by Makaku Oyami exploring the uses of “Tal” and “Greetings” in the Gor series in the context of status-based speech etiquette. Luther examines the use of a third greeting and then advances very different conclusions regarding the uses of “Tal” and “Greetings”. The Geography department is back, highlighting the Vosk. The Slave Heart department offers ideas from kaylee{G} on Perceptioons of Reality. prism shows how being less can sometimes be best in the Cross-Roads department. In the Recipes department, holly{B} entices us with beverages guaranteed to cool down the summertime. Whether you like yours “with” or “without”, you will find something perfect for that right summer moment. From the Crossword Puzzles department, Mishel sends this note: “Kind greetings to you! Can you tell I am excited? We are at the end of Fighting Slave of Gor. The puzzle of this month, Chapters 23-34 find Jason having the upper hand over the imperious Lady Florence, as can be seen in the 247 piece jigsaw puzzle! Jason takes hold of Lady Florence a little at a time until he has reduced her to utter slavery as you will be able to see in the crossword which contains only 55 words! Does she give in to her new found position? Or does she fight it ever inch of the way? You find out while working the puzzle for this month. I thank those of you who continue to support the puzzle. I had considered to move it to another program but I have too many people who enjoy it as it is and my apologies in total sincerity go out to those of you who cannot work the puzzle in its current format. Trust me that I continue to seek out a format the will work for all. Too, I am working on getting the ‘Word Search’ going. That should be exciting. Again, I give my humble thanks.”
Watch for This The Health, Kajira Korner and Pleasure Gardens departments will return. Because there are always proposed contributions in progress, The Gorean Voice is preparing other really nice surprises for you as well.
Possibilities for Contributors There are many possibilities for contributors. If any of these departments appeals to you as a place where you might find a writing or other artistic niche, and of course, if you have ideas for a new feature and are willing to help, then read the guidelines for authors and let us know! Although some possibilities are more appropriate for one person to manage over time, many departments benefit from many contributors. Even if you are thinking about contributing only once, say, through Gorean humor or a book review or perhaps a poem, you should still contact me.
I wish you well, Hersius
