Jump Start 2004 - Summing It All Up

By prism{HS}

Greetings Masters,
Greetings Mistresses,
Greetings slaves,

The last few weeks have been very challenging in all areas. Writing Jump Start 2004 has been a wonderful thing for this one. When writing this article, this one started out thinking she was helping the readers, when in actuality you all have helped her.

Diet and exercise are such a small part of your total being and face it, there are just some of us who will never be thin, but we can be healthy. We can stop focusing on being obsessed with our weight, obsessed on how people look at us, and obsessed with not having the ideal body type that has been portrayed by others. If you fell off the wagon during this challenge, that’s ok, and if you stuck with it, well, that’s ok too. This one just hopes that maybe each one of you who has been reading has taken something small or large from what she has had to offer.

When focusing on the diet aspect, focus on your diet. Diet as a whole. Did you know that 60 percent of all women and girls eat in a dysfunctional fashion? Men and women both experience pressure to achieve an unrealistic physical ideal. Accept and enjoy your body. It doesn’t matter what size, shape or form it is. Accept it for what it is and accept yourself for who you are, even though sometimes this isn’t so easy.

Some points to remember from Jump Start 2004:

  • Instead of dieting, start eating normally. Eat when you’re hungry, listening to your body and stopping when you feel full.
  • Try focusing on your total being, not just on certain body parts, but on yourself as a whole.
  • Thinking positive is an essential part of healthy living.
  • Look for small opportunities to become more active: Take the stairs instead of the elevator or park as far as possible from the entrance to a store. Have fun being physical without worrying about weight.
  • Accept yourself and each other at any size. They say that what you project about how you feel about yourself has a lot to do with how people portray you. Recognize the limitations of that trap and develop more self-acceptance, self-appreciation and self-respect.
  • Most of all, don’t let your weight determine how you live your life. This one sees so many people use phrases like: “I’ll do this when I lose weight,” or ’I’ll do that when I lose weight.” Just do it.

Life is a banquet, and most poor suckers are starving to death.” This is a line from Auntie Mame which could describe the choices we have in the way we live our lives. This one hopes that Jump Start 2004 has helped you make choices that are good for you. Thank you for your time and thank you for helping this one reach a bit deeper in herself.

It’s always a pleasure.

Warmest wishes,

prism
