Musings of the Editor

A Tarn’s Eye View

Tal! Welcome to the July, 2006 edition, which is Volume IX Issue 1, and is the 97th issue of The Gorean Voice.

We continue to be pleased at the response to the email notification system that we put in place last year! For those of you just discovering The Gorean Voice, you can receive an email when each issue of The Gorean Voice is available for viewing, so if you have not already done so, please sign up! As always, your confidentiality is honored when you sign up.

We wish to remind readers wishing to reprint our articles that, as the Guidelines state, copyright is retained by the individual authors. Any requests to reprint sent to the editor will be forwarded to the author - or, if the author has provided a contact address in the article, the author can be contacted directly. One advantage of requesting permission is to then be able to honestly use the phrase, after giving the author proper credit for the authorship, “Reprinted with permission.” We would also appreciate the additional acknowledgment, “This article first appeared in The Gorean Voice.”

Special Call for Contributors

A number of our contributors have suffered serious health problems. The editorial staff is deeply concerned about the current size of The Gorean Voice issues, as we wish to bring many quality offerings each month to our readership. We therefore urge readers who have considered contributing to contact me.

In this Issue

In the Art department, Vanion’s visual elegance delights us with the beauty of a Bath Girl and a kajira looking out from a Hanging Cage.

In the Booknotes department, Socrates continues Kajira of Gor, guiding us into the unfolding events as war unfolds. The war seems at first to be a local outbreak, yet events transpire which give our story a more continental impact. The power-politics of the later novels begin here!

In the Geography department, the background information and distance tables are given for the projections made about longitude and latitude coordinates and the distance measurements. Anyone following these articles' size estimates for the planet Gor can use the tables to estimate distances, and any of you choosing a different size for the planet can use the information to construct your own distance over curved geography tables.

This just in from Mishel and the Crossword Puzzles department: “Greetings Puzzle Friends! This month we start with Blood Brothers of Gor, Chapters 1-15. We continue learning the language of the red savages and find out why the kailiauk is of such importance to them. We will also share some laughs as the story unfolds in this month’s puzzle of 42 words. Also for your enjoyment is a jigsaw of the Pte, the stampede of the kailiauk, in only 209 pieces. I hope you enjoy this month’s puzzles and I humbly thank you for your continued support. I would like to send out a special thanks to those who subscribe. The list is growing and I appreciate your confidence in me.

Possibilities for Contributors

There are many possibilities for contributors. If any of these departments appeals to you as a place where you might find a writing or other artistic niche, and of course, if you have ideas for a new feature and are willing to help, then read the guidelines for authors and let us know! Although some possibilities are more appropriate for one person to manage over time, many departments benefit from many contributors. Even if you are thinking about contributing only once, say, through Gorean humor or a book review or perhaps a poem, you should still contact me.
