Philosophy

A Code of Respsonsibility

The price of greatness is responsibility.” Sir Winston Churchill.

In the Gorean Philosophy we must accept, as leaders and role models, that responsibility is demanded of us. We are leaders to our children, our spouses, and to our friends. We are role models within a community that we reach out to by living practically and decently in. Those responsibilities are part of being a successful adult and a valued employee in Society. Make no mistake, Gorean ideals are for consenting adults that apply an above average set of morality to their daily living while observing a natural order between the sexes.

The importance of this basic tenant is absolutely mandatory in all aspects of living this Philosophy productively. If by Norman’s own theories we are to remove Gorean ideals from those that would term Gorean principals a cult or a fetish lifestyle, a strong foundation must be the divider. BDSM and fetish lifestyles often have lethal concerns. Gorean ideals should not be confused with these dangerous choices.

Truth and Integrity were my first stepping stones to building this foundation, and without Responsibility in action we would find ourselves unable to continue this journey.

To be honest, we are living in a generation that fails terribly to take accountability for its actions. These failings I speak of are found in our education system, in our workplaces, and in our homes. This accountability is being neglected by a surge of information overloads. Where parents once sat and played board games in order to teach children the value of family, it is sadly discovered that those same children are in front of television playing video games. For those who do go above and beyond the job requirements in the workplace, we witness the many who do not. Those individuals will not stay a second later than their scheduled shift. We complain and speak about these issues in our politics and in our community as well as amongst our families, but the masses still are not working toward an accountability for these actions.

In defining yourself as a Gorean idealist, it is noteworthy that responsibility is a dominant trait of those who dare to live this ethos. Taking accountability for a person and a household is by no means a small task. It is poignant labor in the fact that certain guidelines and morality are followed by action in all aspects of living. There is no need for a break or a switch that would stop this action. It is a habit, one which we accept and teach.

I believe that those who enhance their lives with this Philosophy are better for coming to understanding it and living it daily in their lives. This excludes all role play or pretend scenarios that would be temporary. I speak of the daily, monthly, yearly following through on all moral codes defined through Norman in his series. Fantasy is not a requirement to understand an ethos, nor is it required to apply it.

Accountability should apply to your household, your children, your mate, your job. These areas are absolutely imperative when applying a code of responsibility to your daily living. Common sense and logically reasoning out what measures you use in each of these areas is also part and parcel of achieving a greater standard for yourself, and more importantly, for those you love. Our emotions tell us whom we would better, and, by actions, show that the ordinary, the basic, is not enough to master yourself or those around you.

Remember always that in following and understanding this Philosophy your peers will judge and teach. These things are done not because they must be but because it is their responsibility as your peer. To be Gorean in reality in these times is a struggle that carries a heavy burden. However, the end result is a freedom of life and a decency that very few succeed in achieving.

You may judge and scorn Goreans if you wish. Know as well, however, that they judge and scorn you. ” BEASTS OF GOR, Pg. 11

I wish you well,

Nyre
