A Tarn’s Eye View

Tal! Welcome to the 73rd issue of The Gorean Voice.
This issue marks the beginning of our seventh year!

In this Issue

In the Philosophy department, Nyre speaks of Responsibility, that aspect of life that perhaps balances everything best.

The Art department welcomes a new contributor, ally{C}, whose Blonde Slave displays sirik. ally{C} has been the enslaved property of Master Cavalier since mid-1998 and resides in his home in the American Southwest where in addition to joyfully serving her owner and their family, she finds fulfillment in painting, writing, playing guitar and piano, and singing. Vanion gives us an evocative moment with Bit and Bridle, lets us glimpse someone consigned to Long Days and Empty Nights, and allows us to be present at an act of Submission.

In the Booknotes, Socrates chronicles the amazing conclusion to Beasts of Gor, so join us as one mystery is solved while another remains.

Mishel’s perfect Crossword Puzzles continue to complement the Booknotes department through Beasts of Gor.

The Reviews department is honored to offer the writing talents of the perceptive essayist Gabriel as he critiques both the book and the current movie version of The Stepford Wives.

I offer the first of two Editorial pieces giving warnings about roleplay. This first offering discusses inanities and their consequences. My heartfelt thanks go to the reviewers whose insights significantly transformed the work throughout its development. All shortcomings remain my blame alone.

Kitiara Shellfish (who is distinct from the Kittiara of our Free Woman department) is featured in the Poetry department. My Fantasies starkly reveals the vulnerability of disclosing lifestyle truths.

Once again, in the Slave Heart department, kaylee{G} zeros in on the heart of a major feature of relationships, with this month’s theme being the humanity of human property. The theme is extremely important, because proper real life relationships fulfill both parties rather than negate either party. The negation of humanity, personality, and vitality is antithetical to real time long-term successful owner-slave relationships.

As prism explains in the Health department, fitness is dependent on Attitudes toward food and eating. The concepts discussed go a long way toward maintaining healthy habits by avoiding common pitfalls.

Meditation: The Right Place

In the Gor series, Castes are divided into high and low with respect to the formal wielding of political power, yet nowhere is any Caste classified as being unimportant. Peasants are considered fundamental to the entire economy, Merchants see themselves as more important than any Caste except perhaps the Initiates, the performance art of Musicians is so vital that the Caste is protected, and who in the books is not a fan of Players and of the mixed-Caste tarnracers? Sometimes only a Leatherworker will do, and sometimes a Metalworker becomes the most needed person.

Everyone is a combination of limitations and abilities. Everyone, in proper place, can do something that is in some way important. When we are not in our right places, our talents are underutilized and some of our skills suffer from neglect. When we are in place to do what we should be doing, then we can excel. Homemaker, student, pink-collar, blue-collar, white-collar ... so to speak ... the people whom you like and the people whom you do not, relatives, acquaintances, and strangers ... everyone has something significant to accomplish. In the right situation, that potential can be realized.

Whether for a short season or a long season, The Gorean Voice has shown itself to be one of the right places for many people. Good things have been accomplished through its pages. Consider whether here might be the proper place for you to accomplish something in service to the Gorean community.

Watch for This

The second of two Editorial offerings giving warnings about roleplay will discuss cyber-predation and its risks. BKHOOK will offer more artwork. The Interviews department will make its reappearance under prism’s care, Xerxex and I will be back with more Geography notes, maps, and landscape images, and the Kajira Korner and Free Woman columns will return.

Because there are always proposed contributions in progress, The Gorean Voice is preparing other really nice surprises for you as well.

Possibilities for Contributors

There are many possibilities for contributors. If any of these departments appeals to you as a place where you might find a writing or other artistic niche, and of course, if you have ideas for a new feature and are willing to help, then read the guidelines for authors and let us know! Although some possibilities are more appropriate for one person to manage over time, many departments benefit from many contributors. Even if you are thinking about contributing only once, say, through Gorean humor or a book review or perhaps a poem, you should still contact me.
