A Tarn’s Eye View Tal! Welcome to the June, 2006 edition, which is Volume VIII Issue 12, and is the 96th issue of The Gorean Voice. We continue to be pleased at the response to the email notification system that we put in place last year! For those of you just discovering The Gorean Voice, you can receive an email when each issue of The Gorean Voice is available for viewing, so if you have not already done so, please sign up! As always, your confidentiality is honored when you sign up. We wish to remind readers wishing to reprint our articles that, as the Guidelines state, copyright is retained by the individual authors. Any requests to reprint sent to the editor will be forwarded to the author - or, if the author has provided a contact address in the article, the author can be contacted directly. One advantage of requesting permission is to then be able to honestly use the phrase, after giving the author proper credit for the authorship, “Reprinted with permission.” We would also appreciate the additional acknowledgment, “This article first appeared in The Gorean Voice.”
In this Issue In the Art department, Vanion’s visions of beauty give us a glimpse of Forbidden Fruit as a kajira looks out a Kennel’s Window. In the Booknotes department, Socrates begins Kajira of Gor, introducing us to the abduction of a specially-chosen Earth woman and the mysterious placement of our protagonist in the middle of court intrigue and the affairs of city-states. The Reviews department returns with reviews of Native American music perfect for listening to while completing Mishel’s puzzles and for re-reading the books that Socrates has just completed summarizing. This just in from Mishel and the Crossword Puzzles department: “Tal and kind greetings, my Puzzle Friends! Can you believe we are moving so quickly through the books? We are now completing Savages of Gor, Chapters 11-19. This month we will learn a new language and find out about a new culture within Gor with 47 words in our puzzle and see a beautifully dressed savage in the jigsaw puzzle of only 180 pieces. I hope you enjoy this month’s puzzle.” A status update message: The Recipes department is delayed due to the person taking it on having unexpected health problems. Since my email losses have not been recoverable, will the new Tarot reader please contact Bennkar directly? Also, will the other people with whom I had been corresponding concerning a column please email me so that we can continue our planning? On a more conversational note, my namesake planet (the only one of the five planets visible without a telescope for which we have the Gorean name) is currently visible in the constellation Libra.
Watch for This The Geography, Recipes, Crossroads, and Health departments will return next month! We have someone to revive the Tarot department! This should start next month! Because there are always proposed contributions in progress, The Gorean Voice is preparing other really nice surprises for you as well.
Possibilities for Contributors There are many possibilities for contributors. If any of these departments appeals to you as a place where you might find a writing or other artistic niche, and of course, if you have ideas for a new feature and are willing to help, then read the guidelines for authors and let us know! Although some possibilities are more appropriate for one person to manage over time, many departments benefit from many contributors. Even if you are thinking about contributing only once, say, through Gorean humor or a book review or perhaps a poem, you should still contact me.
I wish you well, Hersius
