These maps and scenic images are linked here through the graciousness and talent of the superb Xerxex for your use and enjoyment. Xerxex, who is a professional in the field of ecogeography, holds the copyrights and grants permission for any non-commercial use, including display on websites, and including "cropped" or otherwise "manipulated" versions, in the hope that these and future donations will help Gor-related geography and geology come alive for the Gorean fan community. The sole restriction is that these images may not be used on any site or in any way that promotes or depicts, directly or indirectly, child pornography or pedophilia.
Note: Gorean cartography is by its very nature conjectural. The maps and images here are based on attention to textual information found in the Gor series coupled with scientific knowledge. No endorsement by John Norman is implied.
Map of the Rainforests and Southern Plains
An Arctic Complexity
A view of part of the arctic icecap.
Midnight Sun on a Fjord
A fjord is pictured in the Torvaldsland area. The Ax Glacier country is above the Arctic Circle and is a land of the midnight sun.
The Thentis Mountains
In addition to having lower elevations that allow for blackwine cultivation, the Thentis Mountains have lofty peaks that tower over those of the Voltai.
It is joked that kajirae had better be dressed if they are taken over Boswell Pass, which runs through the Thentis Mountains. Perhaps this shows why.
Thassa
The vastness of Thassa on a calm day is pictured here. Notice that the curvature of the horizon is more acute that would be expected of a similar scene depicting Earth. The scene is sized for a planet comparable to Venus.
Here we see a rugged portion of the seemingly endless Thassa coastline.
The Rainforests
The man-made canal project through some 400 pasangs of swamplands was undertaken to link Lakes Ushindi and Ngao.
The Ua River descends in a series of falls and plateaus.
The Barrens
The Barrens has grasslands and small mixed forests.
The Voltai Mountains
The Voltai Mountains are made of many chains and so have considerable width.
