Slaveheart

Greetings Masters,
Greetings Mistresses,
Hello slaves,

Since lissa is in the middle of a huge move, she thought she would use one of her columns that have made it to virtual paper, but have never seen the light of day, so to speak. She has fine tuned it, and tweaked it, and hopes that she has done the topic some justice.

Failure. There is that evil, evil word. It's been beaten up, pushed around, mulled over and just plain been an annoyance. It’s one of those topics that bring out a myriad of “what if’s” and a deludge of people just wanting to slap a few clues on someone’s head.

It would seem that many can't grasp the concept of failing as a slave. It’s actually very easy to do, only our frail little egos don’t call it failure we call it something else to cushion the blow of what we’ve actually done. And it never fails when this or a number of other topics come up, someone always has to throw in some extreme case of idiocy to prove their point. If you are having to ask yourself what would you do if he commanded you to lob off your hand, then in lissa’s opinion, you should really be asking yourself why you want to be in his collar. There are variables in all forms of living life, some can not be avoided, some can be, and some....are just tests of obedience.

For a little analogy:
Slavery is kinda like the education system (schools). You begin in kindergarten, so you can learn the very basics and be able to function, and each year you move up a grade. You learn new things each year and you grow. You are encouraged and pushed to do your very best, and sometimes you are even rewarded should you do things to the teachers satisfaction. In those years of learning, it's not always easy. In at least one of those years, if not more, you struggle and you fall, and sometimes, you fail.

In failing that particular grade, you are made to repeat it over until you get it right. You are not kicked out of school because of it. You do not get the tools to help you learn taken away from you. You do not get the knowledge that you have learned thus far suddenly zapped from your brain. You are simply made to do it over. Perhaps this time with a new teacher, and a new set of kids. Or perhaps its the same patient teacher and a few friends from the year before. But in either case, you repeat, and try to overcome the obstacles that hindered your progression the first time. But none the less, you failed.

Failing in slavery is kinda similar to that.

As slaves, the goals/rules are the same for all of us. Be pleasing to the Free. Be sincere and honest in your service. Be truthful in your dealings and be respectful to those above you. It's not always easy, and sometimes there isn’t always a clear cut path, but you need to keep forging ahead, because in the end the only person you really end up failing, is yourself.

Always,
lissa
