Tarot Reading

~ A Peek Inside the Tuchuk Haruspex’s Wagon ~

Welcome to my wagon, Friend! Don’t let the aroma of sandalwood and amber incense on the brazier or the flickering light of the many candles bother you - come in, come in and spend some time with me and we will speak of my practices as Haruspex.

I know you must have many questions and, when I have no specific works or readings to do for others, we can speak together more about what it is I do and the tools I choose to use to divine the future. I am not one to read the entrails of animals or watch every little thing around me for omens. No, I am one who chooses to use other tools I am more familiar and comfortable with - the tarot cards being one of those methods.

There are many different spreads or layouts of the cards that can be used and, perhaps at some other time, I will speak more of those. Many times I use the most popular and traditional of the spreads called the Celtic Cross and it gives a pretty complete overall view of the situation surrounding the question posed and asked of the cards.

The first thing I do before beginning a reading, either for myself or for others, is to choose a card to represent the Questioner. It is called the Significator and, around it, the reading is done and the card layout is spread.

Most often, I will choose:

Page of Swords
Page of Swords
Page of Wands
Page of Wands
Page of Cups
Page of Cups
Page of Pentacles
Page of Pentacles

One of the four Page cards, which are used for children, either male or female, who are young (children or teenagers),

Knight of Swords
Knight of Swords
Knight of Wands
Knight of Wands
Knight of Cups
Knight of Cups
Knight of Pentacles
Knight of Pentacles

~ or ~ one of the four Knight cards, which are used for young adults, either male or female (usually until the time they marry),

Queen of Swords
Queen of Swords
Queen of Wands
Queen of Wands
Queen of Cups
Queen of Cups
Queen of Pentacles
Queen of Pentacles

~ or ~ one of the four Queen cards, which are used for adult and married women,

King of Swords
King of Swords
King of Wands
King of Wands
King of Cups
King of Cups
King of Pentacles
King of Pentacles

~ or ~ one of the four King cards, which are used for adult and married men.

The more I know about the person asking for the reading, the easier it becomes to choose a Significator for them. In addition to the above factors, I also take into account their birth signs. Those indicated by the suite of Wands, symbolic of those born under Se-sa, Tefa or Thassa (Gemini, Libra or Aquarius) are generally fair complected with light colored eyes and red hair and are intelligent and well spoken. The suite of Swords indicates those born under Kailla, Larl or Rarius (Aries, Leo or Sagittarius) and these usually have blonde or light brown hair and ruddy skin and are physically strong, natural, charismatic leaders. Those represented by the suite of Cups are born under Toos, Nar or Parsit ( Cancer, Scorpio or Pisces) and most often have a pink or peachy appearance, dark eyes and brown hair together with being defined as deeply emotional, spiritual and artistic. People born under the signs of Bosk, Barbarian or Verr (Taurus, Virgo or Capricorn) are represented by the suite of Pentacles or Disks and have dark hair and eyes and have calm and practical natures.

Though those are the cards I most often select to represent the Questioner, there are times when I might also be led to use one of the Major Arcana instead, or, in rare instances, any of the other numbered cards. Much depends on a specific feeling I get about the person, or the situation or circumstance surrounding the nature of their question and query. My mate and I are two examples illustrating these concepts of the cards used as Significators. I always, whether doing a reading for myself or having one done for me by another, am symbolized by the Queen of Cups, for all the reasons listed above. I am an adult woman, my birth sign is Nar, and I have always been described as emotional, sensitive, spiritual, and creative, and I have dark hair and eyes. Every single reading I have either done for myself or had done for Me brings up the Queen of Cups when indicating or representing me. My mate, however, can be equally signified by either the King of Swords or by the Magician from the Major Arcana - they seem interchangeable and, again, come up to indicate Him in every single reading I have ever done for or about him.

While our time for now has come to an end, please come by again anytime, whether to speak more about the tarot and divination, or for a personal reading. May the Sky Fathers watch over you until we meet again, and keep those wagon wheels well greased and those quiva sharp.
