By lissa Greetings Masters, The recent weeks have found many glued to the television, or radio for any breaking news and updates about the current war. The media system at large is saturated with anything to do with these current events, and lissa thought that in these times, her column being anything less would be nothing short of selfish. At work the other day, lissa was speaking to a client of hers, a woman who comes in every Saturday to have her hair done, we know each other very well, and share the high and low points of each others week, in that short hour she spends with lissa. But recently lissa has just been the silent woman, listening as this client worries outloud about her son, that soon may be called overseas, when she told lissa of a conversation she and her son had had, early that morning. He told her, “Mom, we have talked about his before, for the years I’ve been in the Navy. Mom, you have to realize that no one wants a war, and that includes the men and women who fight it. But in order to rid these people of evil, and to give them the opportunites we as a nation have, sometimes it's just necessary.” And with those words, the womans face brightened just a bit and she said, “You know, he’s right. Everyone on this earth deserves the chance to have the freedoms we have. That’s my wish for them, that’s what I would give to them if I could.” Everyone has a differing opinion of what is happening, and thankfully, because of those men and women who are in another country fighting, we are afforded that right. This girl wishes god speed to the men and women who are selflessly giving of themselves for the betterment of others. Her prayers are with those left behind, and for the safe return of their loved ones. Always, Please send any comments, questions, or concerns to simply_lissa@yahoo.com |
