Finding a Place

by prism

Greetings Masters,
Greetings Mistresses,
Greetings slaves,

This month’s column prism would like to dedicate to those of you who lurk and read and are still trying to find your place. To the Master who wrote her such a wonderful inspiring letter. It humbled her. To all the Mistresses and slaves who let prism share your thoughts through her.

This one has to admit, she is still trying to find her place as well.

This one knows her place is on her knees, not on her knees per se but looking at things from a kneeling point of view. It’s not always the easiest of things to do. And she fails at it repeatedly. “Skinned knees” comes to mind. (Lately prism has “broken” her knees ... literally.) There are times it’s hard. Not knowing where to go, where you fit in. Times one feels they will never fit in and never be what others expect them to be. Is this so wrong? Being different? Having others not think as everyone thinks?

The Gorean lifestyle can mean so many different things to so many different people. There are those we would consider Gorean and they have no clue about Gor. They are just being who they are. They don’t beat their chest. They don’t come to an online chat room and start yelling out orders. They don’t bully people around. Most just accept people for who they are and are content at being who they are.

Most Goreans expect others to accept them, for who and what they are - then why don’t they accept others in the same way? Are they really, truly Gorean ... or just online bullies who grab a girl and have them come live with them? We could look at it however we chose to. What it comes down to is a person being who they are.

prism is called a slave, but is she really a slave? Compared to many, the answer would be no. She doesn’t live up to the expectations of many. She doesn’t go to online chat rooms. She doesn’t give out personal information or even hand over her worldly possessions and checkbook to men who claim to be Gorean. This one won’t fake her beliefs. And last but not least, she doesn’t just listen to some man online demanding her to be what he expects when he shows nothing to her to respect or even think that he is a Master.

Does this make her less? Absolutely!!!! Perhaps it’s a good thing this one isn’t that type of “Gorean.”

What she does do, is watch, listen and learn. She learns from her past mistakes. She learns from others.

And she has learned she doesn’t show respect because she is a slave and should because it’s expected of her. She does it because she wants to. Doesn’t sound so slave like does it? prism thinks that wanting to do something is way more pleasing then just going though the motions because it’s expected. You have to feel it. If we don’t feel it, what are we? Fake? Phony? Just going through the motions?

Perhaps it’s not the acceptance of others we are looking for, but rather accepting ourselves for who and what we are. When one can do that, the door is open for so much more.

So much for not being a “me” column.

Hope this helps those of you who have written this one. She is just trying to find her place as well. And just trying to find one special man to love and please and serve him with all her heart and soul who will accept her for all her flaws and broken knee.

Written from this one’s heart to yours ...

Until next time, chin up and best wishes!
