A Tarn’s Eye View Tal! Welcome to the 80th issue of The Gorean Voice.
In this Issue The Art department again brings you BKHOOK with the evocative Tahari. In the Booknotes department, Socrates chronicles Jason Marshall’s transformation into Gorean consciousness with the next chapters of Fighting Slave of Gor. The Geography department brings you notes on The Western Subvosk Northern Plains. The Maps and Scenic Images department adds a view of a fjord during the midnight sun. A map of the Tahari is on the way, so stay tuned! Mishel’s Crossword Puzzles provides a last chance to test your skill regarding Explorers of Gor. Next month: the start of the “Jason” series! kaylee{G} takes a frank look at Fear in the Slave Heart department. In the Recipes department, holly{B} gets us ready for St. Patrick’s Day and Easter Sunday, providing something for the kids and for the adults.
Meditation: Ta-Sardar Gor Bragh For the month in which, as holly{B} points out, everyone can proclaim to be Irish, my thoughts shift momentarily to caring about being of a Gorean nature in the real world. I kind of envy the Irish. Once put down in America, now celebrated once a year. Now not discriminated against. Other groups, you fill in the blanks as to which are accepted and which are close to being accepted. “Goreans” probably does not make the first cut. I have a conversation with a co-worker and I think to myself, “The only people I know of who think like that are Gorean,” and I am tempted to make some oblique Norman reference like, “That sounds rather Norman-esque,” but of course it is the workplace so of course I don't. I think of inside jokes and serious statements to put on t-shirts, and it brings back home how hard it has been for the books to find reprinters and how the author has been blacklisted and how we not only in effect read shunned books but assert messages contained therein. I read horror stories of some who have “outed” themselves. I think that sometimes information must be selectively shared, and it pisses me off. It is good to have places of acceptance, even if they are mostly online or confined to a few face-to-face people. It feels good to be in the presence of someone who is honestly thoughtful of Gorean ideals and who is a fan of the Gor series. That contact makes me want more. So, for this month, I will again look at trying to encourage people to support Gorean lifestyle by contributing to The Gorean Voice and will applaud those who support Gorean lifestyle by reading The Gorean Voice. And when I see similarities of values in other people, I will smile to myself and be thankful for the affirmation and with a wink of my soul think to myself, “Ta-Sardar Gor Bragh!”
Watch for This The Health, Kajira Korner, Pleasure Gardens, and Reviews departments will return. Because there are always proposed contributions in progress, The Gorean Voice is preparing other really nice surprises for you as well.
Possibilities for Contributors There are many possibilities for contributors. If any of these departments appeals to you as a place where you might find a writing or other artistic niche, and of course, if you have ideas for a new feature and are willing to help, then read the guidelines for authors and let us know! Although some possibilities are more appropriate for one person to manage over time, many departments benefit from many contributors. Even if you are thinking about contributing only once, say, through Gorean humor or a book review or perhaps a poem, you should still contact me.
I wish you well, Hersius
