Tuchuk Haruspex’s Reading of the Runes
Laguz is the rune representing water, is a strongly feminine rune, and like the ocean contains much power of a primal nature. Here the rune is seen in the reversed, symbolic of the ebbing tide. This may suggest power being drawn away, or may perhaps the start of a journey.
What may be seen or learned from the center rune representing a deciding element of the present: Algiz represents the antlers of the elk that is the object of the hunt, and thus deals with pursuit of goals and the thrill of pursuit. The rune is currently shown reversed, so this could suggest a failed endeavor or a lack of effort or being unclear as to how to proceed. It is also representative of a protective hand with fingers open wide, so the reversed position may indicate a lack of defense, protection or safety measures that are needed before proceeding.
What may be seen or learned from the right rune representing the critical element of the future that is at the core of the final outcome: Wunjo is the rune of joy and of perfection and deity since it was considered the rune of the gods. The reversal of this rune suggests that joy is being withheld, or, since joy is frequently communal, it may represent loneliness, either spiritually from one’s deity or spiritual nature, the frustration and sense of yearning from imperfection in an important work, or in the physical and emotional sense.
Tuchuk Haruspex’s Reading of the Runes
Gebo means gift, and like many gifts, the rune may be understood on many levels. Gifts are generally positive things, for both the giver and the recipient. In many cultures however, gifts and favors carry with them an obligation to respond in kind. It is for this reason that gifts are frequently symbolic of friendships, marriages, alliances, mergers, and other bonds between people or organizations. It is a strong rune and the unions represented are strong as well.
What may be seen or learned from the center rune representing a deciding element of the present: Othila is the rune symbolizing homeland and wealth. On a deeper level, this rune speaks to that which you inherit, be it material or genetic. Since it is seen reversed here, the obstacles you confront are among those things in your background that you take for granted and consider fairly stable, such as things from your origins or family background or stemming from the way you were raised, etc. that may need to be worked through.
What may be seen or learned from the top rune representing a force that works for you: Inguz is the rune of completion and fertility. The presence of this rune suggests that tasks which have been initiated will come to fruition. This rune is associated with both fertility and sexuality. The variant of this rune shown here is reminiscent of the twin strands of life, and of the challenge and rewards of bringing together things that work together and are complimentary.
What may be seen or learned from the bottom rune representing a force that works against you: Laguz is the most strongly feminine of runes, representing water. Deep sexuality is suggested by this rune. The connotation of water seen here symbolizes power as in the ocean - vast, uncontrollable, ever-changing, and vital. When interpreted as the returning tide, Laguz can also predict the inevitable return from a long journey.
What may be seen or learned from the right rune representing a critical element of the future and at the core of the final outcome: Fehu represents cattle, the ancient Norse symbol of wealth. This rune has some interesting implications based on the fact that cattle, unlike land, move about of their own accord. Cattle also reproduce, so this rune often speaks of wealth that renews or perpetuates itself. Wealth takes many forms, but this rune generally represents the value that is purely material or monetary in nature. Alternatively, this rune is deeply associated with Frey, and thus can be the seen as representing fertility and children.
