Dear readers,

This puzzle comes to you with an apology for a typographical error which may have made last month's puzzle unnecessarily hard to solve. The blame is entirely mine and I hope to have done better this time.

Here goes:

Four peasants brought their produce to market, sold it, and spent the afternoon turning the profits into Sul paga in the only tavern within a hundred pasangs to sell this noble ambrosia. It was a chilly day in early Se-Kara, so in accordance with ancient rules of precedence they all sat in a row in order of age, the oldest peasant having the seat nearest the fire. As the Sul paga slipped down their throats, they all waxed voluble concerning the state of the nation and the hard times they had known. Each had a different pet peeve and favourite memory, and each of them had a distinctive head of hair (or none, in one case) and brought different produce to market.

The fair-haired peasant brought Sa-Tarna to market

The man who thought there were too many foreigners about these days sat between the bald peasant and the red-haired peasant

The dark-haired peasant was younger than the man who remembered not being able to afford a roof for his hovel

The red-haired peasant declared that the Ubar was a congenital idiot

The oldest man remembered not knowing what a tarsk-bit looked like

The man who remembered when the well used to run dry every year was next younger than the man who brought cheese to market

The man complaining that the youth of today didn't know the meaning of hard work had hair, and was older than the man who brought vulos to market

The man next older than the Sul farmer said the taxes were punitively high

Who remembered the terrible winters they used to get?
