Welcome back to another month of the dance column. Last months column was missing because I had some ugly computer problems. Hint, don't install drivers that aren't approved you will have a nightmare. -hehe-. This month I thought I would just write some of my observations about what I've seen and observed about dance over the years from my own perspective. I hope you enjoy them and will talk to you again next month!

'Ramblings'

The last few weeks I've thought over and over about the dance of the Gorean slave girl. In many cases all I see is the dancing of girls online and the pretend words written to express emotion. Long ago I once thought this could be considered the essence of a dance in the written word. However, I've changed my mind drastically and replaced it with something else inside of me. After having been a part of the Gorean environment for so long things begin to change and you begin to grow frustrated. Sometimes things just aren't enough anymore. I feel that at this time the online medium isn't quite expressional for dance to me and perhaps many others out there who have been around for a long time.

I do not knock those girls that love to dance online or even express their emotions if its the only way, but I do however believe it is more beneficial to dance offline. Many of my friends now take up belly dancing in real life and they express an extreme amount of joy and satisfaction in what it means to feel the movements of their body. The changes to their personality and expressions have helped them to blossom into beautiful flowers to the movement of the music. Sometimes it just brings a new aura of confidence to their faces or expression when I talk to them. It is always good to see the change and happiness of a beautiful girl as she awakens into womanhood.

Many things within the books on Gorean dance were widely varied from the clothing to the movements. All across Gor you could see the distinct expression of dance and how it helped a girl to express her emotions. Gorean slave dance has been toted at times as being the only truly expressive form in which a girl can let all her feelings hang out to be seen by the observers around her. I myself find that a great deal of emotion and love comes out when beginning to create something of beauty for someone else to see. It gives me a sense of stamina in order to do my best work.

There are many book dances that have been quoted all over the web and I think that most of them are pretty self-explanatory. My own website that I've spent many hours of work and love putting together portrays a great deal of them in a succinct manner. I hope that those pages of quotes are helpful to any that might have seen it. I shall let you peruse the book dances on your own free will at the following addy.

Dances of Gor - Dances of Gor

The book dances vary in their information to the informative with large explanations of the movements to the vague with only one or two sentence mentions. I've found many book dances for both free and slave within the books. Dance was as a major part of the life of a slave on Gor because it could increase her worth if not her value to the person she served. It also provided entertainment to the people who visited the taverns/inns along the way of their journeys.

The essence of Gor expanded into the musical qualities in which one could find a vibrant awareness to the soul and various musical instruments to choose from. Songs ranged from happy tales of the adventures of Tarl Cabot to the solemn hymns of a funeral procession. To listen to what Gorean music may sound like please visit the archives of the voice and the musical pieces created by Master Strummer.

To me the expression of dance in the Gorean situation can be expressed through the various dances, music, and cultural aspects of the community that one may of been a member of. I've examined quite a few of the books in their own right and found some similar as well as differences in the way dances were performed or even mentioned. The one thing I've found in common that the girls were all there to please the free and dance the emotions of the soul with no holds barred.

The study of dance has taken me on a journey of my own self-discovery. It has opened my eyes and it helped me to learn about the Gorean environment in a way that was helpful and unique to me. It also opened my further interest into the study of Gorean philosophy and the attributes that one can find to apply to their everyday life.

Dance can be expressed as just a slave thing but with a good interest and the right movements=s you can form something that as a deeper and more powerful meaning to the performer. My time within the area of Gorean dance has helped me to blossom into a more confident performer as well as speaker in the limelight. [:)]

Dance is and will always be the expression of the soul!
