“Holiday Hangovers” By prism{HS} Greetings Masters,
They say “tis the season to be jolly.” I can remember my Christmas party days. Oh the joy of the night, drinking, eating, dancing. Partying to the wee hours of the morning, and then paying for it the next day. I remember it well, as I am sure some of you can relate. The headache, the shakes, your stomach in a knot. Trying to remember who's lawn you left your skirt on, or what neighbor's driveway you parked your car in, or if you even brought your car home and if you didn’t, where the heck was it now? The pleasure of the night before now your worst day. Oh yes, I remember them well. How stupid I was. Although the comment of the car may have gotten a few chuckles, the stupidity of drinking and driving is not funny at all. I often wondered how I survived. Here are a few holiday tips for the night of and next day. Before going out, always have a game plan. If you plan on drinking, please don’t drive. Always have a designated non-drinking driver, or a service that will pick you up and take you from one destination to another. And please don’t let your friends or even non-friends drive drunk. Before going out:
Planning what you are going to drink and not mixing alcohol will help minimize the morning after. Also, pace yourself, guzzling down the bar in a matter of an hour is a sure way to do yourself in. Before going to bed, again drink a few glasses of water to rehydrate yourself. Now you may take a few aspirin if needed. Your done drinking and the alcohol is already circulating in your system. Cool compresses always help in the am when the head is splitting. I often found myself lying on the cool bathroom floor. They say in the am you should always have “the hair of the dog that bit you,” that may be true but I have often found it may numb the pain, but doesn’t last long. Truthfully, I don’t know of any known cures for a hangover, except time and of course my all time favorite. Something absolutely greasy and salty... MacDonald’s quarter pounder with cheese and FF. Two bites of that for me is heaven. On a more serious note. If you plan on drinking, please do so sensibly which will help us all have a healthy, safe and happy holiday.
As always, thank you for your time. Here is wishing you and yours a most wonderful happy safe holiday. Warmest Holiday wishes prism{HS} |
