A Tarn’s Eye View Tal! Welcome to the January, 2006 edition, which is Volume VIII Issue 7, and is the 91st issue of The Gorean Voice. We will shortly be directly linking the German Edition of The Gorean Voice to our pages. In the meantime, here is the link to the German Edition of The Gorean Voice: http://www.germangor.de/tgv/tgv.shtml. Because the German Edition is a translation of what we publish, expect an issue or so of lag time between the English and German versions. We continue to be pleased at the response to our reactivated email notification system! You can receive an email when each issue of The Gorean Voice is available for viewing, so if you have not already done so, please sign up! As always, your confidentiality is honored when you sign up.
In this Issue In the Booknotes department, Socrates begins Blood Brothers of Gor. The Gor series is itself a saga that interweaves the stories of many characters while being a chronological adventure tale. Within that framework, Savages of Gor and Blood Brothers of Gor are parts one and two of a single story set in The Barrens and featuring the descendants of Native Americans brought to Gor. In this installment, Socrates presents the elements that jell the plot for this, the Eighteenth Book in the series. Vanion is back with the Art department! He shows us a very definite Temptation to Linger. The Geography department remains by the Gorean Arctic Circle again this month as it presents the long-awaited treatment of Torvaldsland! For a long time I have made comments about how small Torvaldsland is - now you can find out what I have been talking about. In addition, the Hrimgar Mountains receive some discussion, since last month I described the probable north-south extent of the Hrimgar Mountains, leaving until this month for their likely east-west extent as they cocoon Torvaldsland on it east and north. As an added bonus, readers will discover the “mountains of Torvaldsland,” which are not to be confused with the Hrimgars and which commentaries tend to either gloss over or omit altogether. berit{Phil} revives the Slave Heart department this month with perspectives on Slave Fires, showing what the realization of sexuality liberates women from as well as what it liberates women to. As berit{Phil}’s master creates and hosts our German Edition, berit{Phil} is no stranger to The Gorean Voice. We welcome her with this her first-time direct contribution to our pages! In the Recipes department, holly{B} rings in the new year with the lean treat, vension. As a hunter with both venison and antelope in the locker (hey, I am not ashamed to admit that my favorite color is blaze orange), I can personally attest to the idea that, for most people, the proper recipes make the difference when it comes to game. In the Gor series, most of the food tastes tend to the sharper rather than to the bland. holly{B} gives everyone the chance to experience tabuk in the “diner-friendly” delivery mechanisms of stew, stroganoff, parmesan pasta, and barbecue. Whether you harvest the game yourself, purchase it from meat shops, or order it from catalogs, you now have four creative ways to enjoy a species of tabuk. prism is back with the Crossroads department, this month with a meditation on the significance of labels. This is a difficult concept for many people. prism provides thoughts that need to be considered as part of a comprehensive contemplation when people make or re-think their words of relationship.
Watch for This Mishel will be back with the Crossword Puzzles department! Because there are always proposed contributions in progress, The Gorean Voice is preparing other really nice surprises for you as well.
Possibilities for Contributors There are many possibilities for contributors. If any of these departments appeals to you as a place where you might find a writing or other artistic niche, and of course, if you have ideas for a new feature and are willing to help, then read the guidelines for authors and let us know! Although some possibilities are more appropriate for one person to manage over time, many departments benefit from many contributors. Even if you are thinking about contributing only once, say, through Gorean humor or a book review or perhaps a poem, you should still contact me.
I wish you well, Hersius
