Again we present sleuth (as she says she wears a tan trenchcoat) reporter vanea, and her second ummmm, victim, Mastiff.

This month we are fortunate to feature another well known face... Master Mastiff. He was born 36 years ago in New England, but now his home is in the mid-west, where he lives with his two sons and his slave. His sons are somewhat aware of the Gorean lifestyle, but are too young to yet comprehend many of the important aspects. Master Mastiff is single, works in management, and is of the Caste of Scribes.

Master Mastiff has been on IRC for about 3 1/2 years, with most of his time spent in Gorean channels. Silk and Steel was his first channel which he found by doing a web search. When asked of his reaction and treatment upon entering Silk&Steel he said, "I read the S&S website.... so I was very quiet. They thought I was furniture for the first three months. Zeb’s slave kissed me... Being new, I thought he'd kill me for that." Master Mastiff now sits at the table as a keeper of the same Silk&Steel Tavern on Dalnet.

Having almost always owned a mastiff for a pet, he has always gone by his chosen name, Mastiff.... Except, of course, for the times he spent doing some undercover work with the name "Excursus". Under this name of Excursus, he would go to different channels, rating their service...so to speak. The old articles can now be found on the Silk & Steel website, under the 3rd Knowledge, at www.silkandsteel.com.

Master Mastiff was fortunate to have found a mentor who helped him in understanding many aspect of the Gorean lifestyle, and the ways of the tavern here online when he was new to IRC. This man was none other than Master Bear, a great mentor to so many of us. Master Mastiff states he will always be grateful to Master Bear for all his help.

The Gorean lifestyle for Master Mastiff is the same on-line and off-line. Being Gorean to him means," Living by the natural order... and in doing so, introspecting your own life to the point that the last person you can fool... is yourself." He has considered himself Gorean for serveral years. IRC means a way to communicate with the men he has met , and hopes to meet, but the most difficult problem he finds with the medium is the lack of body language and personal contact, and those "damned splits"

The Gorean lifestyle has affected his life for the good in that he finds it makes him evaluate his life daily. Did he pay a price for who and what he has become? Yes, although the price is less dear than it once was.

Master Mastiff thinks there is a place for the free women in the Gorean lifestyle, but he doesn’t want one.

When you don't see Master Mastiff online, or when he is not working, you might find him spending time with his sons, tooling some leather or wood, watching sports, playing hockey, watching a movie, or just listening to some good music. His taste in music varies, his favorite movie is "Fandango", and favorite colors are shades of gray. His favorite food is a nice steak, red inside and burned on the outside. And while travels during his lifetime have been extensive, if he could go for a week-long visit to a place he has not been, he would like to go to the Cayman Islands.

It is believed we should all do our part in some way to help and to contribute to our community. You can see Master Mastiff’s contributions by reading his enjoyable humor that he writes for the Voice, or in his comments to the Gorean Boards.

His favorite quote is, "The fools of Earth, confused by the rhetoric of law and morality, shielding short-sighted greed and madness, had stood aside, permitting the poisoning of the air they breathe, the water they drink, the food they ate. That the poisoners will die with the poisoned will perhaps yield them some comfort." (--p.362-363, Tribesmen of Gor)

Master Mastiff notes that this quote was first pointed out to him by Marcus, before he ever found, and then read, that particular book.
