The paradox of a slave.

by Umbar

The concept of female slavery is an intricate concept, a concept that is complex in that it entails the bondage of a female human being, controlled and governed by a male human being, humans being the top of the food chain in the animal kingdom, on earth considered to be higher than animals. The slavery of such a high order is complex in that it deals with an extremely wide range of emotions, feelings, thought processes and intelligence of both the female and the male. The female is of great interest, for what drives her to be embonded in such a fashion, and what paradoxes does this entail.

Paradox, meaning "Statement contrary to recieved opinion; self contradictory, person, thing, conflicting with preconcieved notions of what is reasonable or possible." Oxford Dictionary.

A paradox is an intangible concept that defies itself within the same statement. In relation to slaves, we can refer to the books of John Norman to highlight a few of the many paradoxes that are a part of female slavery.

"But you are a slave, so you need not be concerned about such matters. Enslaved, you are free, interestingly and paradoxically, to be free."

"You make me feel free," she said.

"Beware you are not whipped," I said.

She contritely kissed my feet.

The most obvious paradox that we can ascertain from the novels is that a slave is bound, embonded, yet she is considered truly free. Why is this so? How can a female, who is bound, unable to move, unable to act without the will of her master, be free? Perhaps Norman gives us insight into why this is so.

"In a sense you are free and in a sense you are not free," I said. "The sense, or one of the senses, in which you are free," I said, "is the sense of emotional freedom. You, a slave, have now honestly admitted to yourself, in your own heart, fully, that you are a slave. This eliminates conflicts. This produces a sense of emotional joy and fulfillment. You are now at peace with yourself. You are now content with yourself. The sense in which you are not free is an obvious one. You are a slave, totally, and are fully at the mercy of your master, or masters."

The slave is freed from her inner inhibitions, to explore her sexuality, her wants, needs, desires, under the strong will of a man. She can shed her notions of self sexual protection, remove herself from the concepts of restrictions western society has placed upon her throughout her life. The female is unshackled, whilst in the process of being shackled!

"Interesting," I said. How subtle and deep was the intelligence of women, I thought. How much they know. How much they can sense. How simple and crude, how naive, sometimes seems the intelligence of men compared to the intelligence of women. What deep and wonderful creatures they are. Who can truly understand the emotional depths and needs, eons old, of these flowers of nature and evolution? How natural, then, it is, that the truly loving man will concern himself not with her distortions and perversions, ultimately barren, but with her emotional and sensual truths, ancient and deep within her, with what might be called her biological and natural fulfillment. Then I shook such thoughts from my mind, for she was simply a slave, and was to be treated as such.

Another paradox that is highlighted by the slave is the concept of being cherished, of being of worth, of being held in high regard, yet not being respected, not being treated as women are normally treated within the society we live in. How can a woman who is cherished, of worth, potentially loved, and often regarded as an animal or an object; to be sold to the highest bidder; to be given away without a second thought; be subjected totally to the will of men?

"My sexuality has been liberated by my slavery," she said. "It is now a force within me." She looked at me, chidingly, reproachfully. "You feed it," she said. "What am I now to do? It is a joy and a torment." She clutched my arms. "It makes me helpless," she said. She looked up at me, angrily. "You have made me so I need the touch of men," she said. "I hate you!" Then her nails digging into my arms, she said, "Touch me!"

Men are the driving force for the slavery of women. Under a strong iron will, the slave has no choice but to submit to him, to be deferential to his needs, wants and desires. His wish is to know the slave inside and out, to explore her intimately, to travel throughout her mind and body on a journey of understanding. Perhaps it is this that is so appealing to the female. An average earth man has little interest, or no idea how to achieve knowing his woman in such detail.

How wonderful it is to know another human being so intimately, especially one he owns. There are no secrets between masters and slaves. Her deepest thoughts and desires, as well as her most trivial fancies and observations, are open to him and, because he owns her, of great interest to him. A man is more likely to be intensely fond of a girl he owns than of a free individual toward whom he stands in a mere contractual relationship. The latter he does not own; the former he does. The owned girl is valuable; she is precious; this makes her much different from a business partner. For what it is worth, the most intimate and deepest loves I have known have been between masters and their slaves, that between the love master and the love slave."

"But the woman is still a slave," she said.

"Yes," I said, "totally and catagorically. She may even be sold, if he wills."

"The attention and love such a girl obtains," she said, "need not be accorded to her."

"No," I said. "It is a gift of the master."

Being a man, and not a woman, and also being of earth and not being a part of a society in which slavery is so inherent within that society, it is often difficult to understand the paradoxes of the female slave. There are so many more paradoxes that exist within female slavery, I have only touched the tip of the iceberg, so to speak.

Perhaps the females who practice slavery can understand more the paradoxical aspects of their embondment. For men, it is not a matter necessarily to understand it, for we would go insane, or find ourselves giong around in circles searching for answers. It is merely enough to know they exist and accept them, and to forge ahead with strength, fully knowing that our strength will exact what we desire from our females, and in turn, lead them to internal fulfilment.

"Many are blissfully happy," I said. "Strange," I mused, "that that should be so, and yet the facts are incontrovertible. Many of them, collared, subject to the whip, are yet blissfully happy. It makes little sense to me. I do not profess to understand it.

I wish you all well.

Umbar,      Scribe, Victoria, Australia.

Oh, and a little more food for thought I offer this quotation.

"Perhaps, here and there, men will form themselves into small communities, where the names of such things as courage, discipline and responsibility may be occasionally recollected, communities which, in their small way, might be worthy of Home Stones. Such communities, emerging upon the ruins, might provide a nucleus for regeneration, a sounder, more biological regeneration of a social structure, one not antithetical to the nature of human beings."
