Here is a logic puzzle, presented for your pleasure, by chumani

If you care to use the chart below (by printing it) in solving this problem, you do so by entering all information obtained from the clues using, perhaps, an X to indicate a definite "no" and a dot to show a definite "yes". Remember, once you enter a definite "yes", place a "no" in all the rest of the boxes in each row and column that contains the dot. J

Four Men living in the City of Ar participate in an annual parade, riding their kaiila in formation through the streets. Each Man belongs to a different caste, and rode a kaiila of a different color. In addition, each Man's slave followed closely behind, charged with keeping Ar's streets clean. ;-) From this information, and the clues below, determine each Man's caste, the color of His kaiila, and the name of the slave who walked behind.

  1. None of the Mens' names begin with the same letter as their caste. None owns a slave whose name begins with the same letter as His name or His caste.
  2. The four Men were, in no particular order: Mikos, the member of the caste of Tarn-keepers, the owner of rani, and the rider of the black kaiila.
  3. Neither Samos or the member of the caste of Merchants rode the brown kaiila.
  4. Neither Rim nor the owner of malika rode the white kaiila.
  5. Both Tab and the rider of the gray kaiila have ridden in the parade for over ten years, while the member of the caste of Scribes just started last year.
  6. The member of the caste of Ropemakers is not the owner of shaya.

Note: a girl would like to thank star{X} for her assistance with names. J
