Hi.
My name is D Blade and I am a pro wrestler (in training) and I need some help.

I have a couple of friends that live in the Chicago area who are into GOR and the GOREAN lifestyle. Although I am not into GOR (my fiance does occasionally dabble in it), I want to create a "character" to dedicate to them that is Gorean based.

I have come up with the name: DARKOSIS (which, as you know, means "Holy Disease").

I plan on donning some theatrical make-up do appear grotesque, but I could use some advise:

1) I don't want to offend anyone who is heavily into the Gorean lifestyle. On the contrary, I want to create this character in honor of those who pursue this way of life.

2) I am working on my webpage(which is still UNDER CONSTRUCTION) and I have added a "side" page for Darkosis. I need something to explain what Darkosis is all about and why he is here on Earth. Any suggestions?

3) I want this to be as authentic as possible. Part of the D Blade image is to be as real(in and out of the ring) as possible. I thought about dragging my fiance to the ring on a leash and collar and coming out to Marilyn Manson music (I haven't decided which song I would use yet). Too cliche?

Any and all suggestions and advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your time.
D Blade

BEAR RESPONDS:
Dear Blade.
Well, triple-suplex and body-slam me from here to Cos, your letter is timely!

I am just about to announce the formation of the WGWF (World Gorean Wrestling Federation). We have sold dual-world broadcast rights to Ted Turner (proving again that he will buy anything), so expect to see it coming to a cable channel near you.

Seriously...

I wish you well in your endeavor, but you can be assured that those who actually live this lifestyle (we don't "dabble") have little interest in seeing their traditions, philosophy and the codes they live by paraded in front of a crowd of drunken, half-literate rednecks on a Saturday night. Indeed, such disrespect and disregard is common; you see it in 95% of those online who claim to be "gorean", at least you are upfront about it.

My suggestion is that if you go ahead with this (what's next? A wrestler named JEW-BOY? One named POPE'S-PET? Oh, I know! How about a big guy named BUDDHA'S BELLY?) stick to the novels and the fiction for your website and leave the lifestylers totally out of it. With all those online and off who practice bdsm with a few Gorean words thrown in and call it "gor" we lifestylers don't need any more people convincing the general populace we are crazy.
