Experiencing Life

by belle{A^} - Property of Ares^

One of her most treasured memories occurred on the porch steps of an old rustic Shaker cabin in mountains of Tennessee, watching the golden sun peek up from the horizon, while being held in her Masters arms. she can recall thinking that it was the most exquisite sunrise she had ever seen.

In reality, the sun had not changed. The sun is a constant in our lives. Each day we can watch it rise. It looked exactly as it had every morning. The variable is how she experienced the moment, thereby altering her perception of a common daily event.

Each time we experience an event it is for the first time, no matter how many times we live through the same experience. Our perceptions, memories and who we share the experience with will alter the colors and how the moment impacts us. And each person will experience every shared event differently.

she has heard time and time again about the contradictions in John Norman's writings. she would ask... are they truly contradictions? Or are they moments experienced by unique individuals, each with their own needs and set of priorities. And because of this individuality and the setting of the story... the perception of the experience is altered... and a new lesson offered to the reader.

Experiences are different from philosophies. Experiences rarely will follow the exact guidelines of ideals. Experiences are what create the inner character, found in each and every one of us which makes us embrace our common beliefs and worthy ideals found within the novels.

Most of us strive for finity within our world of infinite possibilities. Defining perimeters is a natural inclination and quite often a necessary thing. These are the choices we make in our lives. Or for those who are owned their Master choose to make. But nothing in our lives is finite... fate alone prohibits this.

Is it realistic to try to cast a mold based upon two-dimensional characters experiences (not philosophy) and state unequivocally this is how all should live? Once a mold is cast, then all individuality is lost. Being a cloned slave is somehow unappealing to this one. The constants found within the books are not the same as those on earth. The laws of the land we live on must be followed. The threat of disease has to be taken into account. The livelihood and responsibilities of the slave has to be considered as many do not live in the home of their Masters or may not even be owned.

The novels embrace the differences found within each individual. The reality on the fictional planet Gor, as well as here on earth is that each M/s relationship is unique. Each relationship a slave has with an individual Master will be different. Is it not a good thing to embrace the beauty that is in each of our respective lives, instead of comparing and analyzing the accuracy of the event... trying to ascertain if the moment is Gorean or not? Or worse, try to diminish an experience of another because we do not perceive it to be Gorean?

Each of us has chosen a path built upon the Gorean philosophy. she humbly submits that this is a wide path, which allows a certain amount of diversity and flexibility. That there are times that it is appropriate for concessions to be made. Of course, never at the risk of compromising the philosophy. These concessions are determined by the Masters who live the philosophy, those whose feet are firmly planted on earth but embrace the ideals of Gor.

This is just a girl who is quoting less and striving more to appreciate the unique beauty which surrounds her. she wishes everyone many exquisite sunrises.
