Breast Cancer Awareness

By prism{HS}

Greetings Masters,
Greetings Mistresses,
Greetings slaves,

This one knows this is a bit late but she thought she would write on it anyway. And actually sitting here thinking about it, this is a subject that is never to late.

October was National Breast Cancer awareness month. Many people think that breast cancer is just a woman thing, but it is not. While it’s rare, men can develop malignancies in their breasts. Some 1,450 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year, the American Cancer Society estimates, and about 470 will die from it. Approximately 215,990 women in the United States will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer this year, and about 40,110 will die from the disease. There are slightly more than 2 million American women who have been treated for breast cancer, according to the American Cancer Society.

This one could write all about the statistics and fill the page up with numbers and give a cheerleading act to get you all to listen, but she won’t. The point is, Breast Cancer is very real. And we all probably know someone who has it and will know someone who will encounter it, (although let’s hope not).

Early detection helps the survival rate. This includes self breast examinations and mammograms.

Here are some links to help:

http://www.komen.org/bse/.

This is a video to show how to do self breast examinations. It also has other very informative information.

http://www.thebreastcancersite.com.

This site has a button to click on, and when you do that, you help fund a free mammogram.

All the information is out there. This one just encourages everyone to at least take the time to read and learn about it. Who knows, it could save your life or a friend’s life, or perhaps by clicking on the sites provided, you may just save a stranger’s life.

Thank you for your time.

Warmest wishes,

prism
