“Stress”

By prism{HS}

Greetings Masters,
Greetings Mistresses,
Greetings slaves,

The holidays are right around the corner, celebrations, food, and shopping. November and December can be such busy, hectic months. It can be a time for great joy for some and a time of stress and frustration for others.

Basically what it spells out in capital letters STRESS.

No one should be denied the joys of the holiday season, so I have put together a few suggestions to help try to relieve some of the stress and possibly help make it something to enjoy, rather then dread.

I am not one who likes to “rush” the holidays but to relieve some of the stress we should plan ahead. It’s the last minute stuff that has to be done that gets us all in a tiff.

Try setting aside time for those special preparations that you know far in advance. These things always seem to get done sooner or later. Why not try the sooner and relax more later?

Make sure you get enough sleep. Don’t try to burn the candle at both ends. There are plenty of parties and celebrations, preparations, cooking and shopping that has to be done. When we get cranky and moody we tend not to enjoy. Not to mention who wants to be around a moody, cranky person? Getting enough sleep to feel rested will ensure you to have the energy to get into the full swing of things and enjoy it as it happens.

Here is the one that gets me every year, the food. Foods we only get to see at this time of year. If your like me, I tend to overindulge a bit. Then stress out about the weight gain. This one is simple enough, don’t diet during the holidays. Just try to maintain your weight. After the holidays get back on track.

Take a few minutes every day to relax and do something nice for yourself. A walk around the block, or a quiet moment after the kids are in bed.

Listening to some music may help.

If at all possible try to stick to your fitness routine during the holidays. Physical activity is a great way to relive stress.

And if all else fails, just sit back, close your eyes and wiggle your toes.

Wishing you all a wonderful safe and happy Thanksgiving or whatever holidays you celebrate.
