Here we are again, with another Gorean Tarot reading. These readings are something synne has used for introspection, self-therapy of a sort, and for learning how to view her problems objectively. The cards tend to direct her attention places it would normally never wander, allowing her to catch insights she would not without having it pointed out to her. She hopes the same kind of guidance finds its way to those who take the time to read the readings each month.

synne would like to take a moment to thank those of you who take the time to read this column from month to month. She has always enjoyed the Voice, and sincerely hopes she can contribute to others enjoying it as well. She begs, if you are curious, or would like to volunteer to be the next name in lights, please just email the Voice and say so! synne can read for strangers as well as friends, and enjoys it immensely.

This month's reading is written for aloria, property of Master Kar Ragnon

Position One, Master Scribe -

In position one, this card is referring to the underlying issue or situation, or perhaps the recent past. It could even stand literally for a person embodying these qualities, though it seldom comes out so literally. The meaning of this card is complex. The Master Scribe represents *education*, belief systems, conformity, group identification. Schools, clubs, teams, castes, factions, cultural groups; The Master Scribe stands for all of this because facts, structured groups with structured rules of conduct and learning, and such are his main area of expertise.

Groups like this tend to cause people to conform, to fit into the conventions of the society or group or school, etc that they belong to. The people within this group tend to develop a sense of larger self, such as the sense of belonging to a city or caste, to a culture or school of thought.

The Master Scribe often indicates learning from other learned people, people who can either be considered experts, or elders, and the like. He also stands for a need to mould oneself to the expectations, the protocols or rules of conduct of the group or situation one is in. This card may mean that that you are struggling against something that is pretty much set in ways meant more for the group than the individual, or stuck with rules meant for the greater good rather than for what you think is good for you.

Being part of a group can be great for a person sometimes, at other times it may nearly smother you. It is important to stop and think whether it is better this time for you to follow old traditions or ways based in fact, or take a plunge into the unknown, and go your own way.

Position two, Four of Staffs -

In position four, a card represents something that is an issue right now, or is quickly getting to that point, something that needs to be faced, dealt with, understood. "Do not ask how to live... instead proceed to do so." (Page 9, Marauders of Gor, by John Norman) This card tells you of celebration, freedom and excitement. Learn to let go, to enjoy and relish your life, live it with flair and determination. Revel in the freedoms you have, be they the freedoms of the Free or the freedoms of a slave. Celebrate that unique outlook you have, let go of limitations and "Be all that you can be." (no groaning please... *grins*)

Allow the thrills, the zest for life that is yours and yours alone, to fulfil you, go ahead and let the excitements of life wash over you. This card stands for all the delights of moving forward, accepting and even striving for growth. This card is asking you... Are you dwelling on something that is preventing you from enjoying this card's qualities? Are you too caught up in the recent past to truly appreciate all that you have? Is your focus more on what you have "lost" than what you have gained?

Position Three, Al-ka of Goblets -

In this position a card represents the outcome of things, be it an outcome overall, or of the inner state, or the outcome of actions, or the final effects. The al-ka of goblets symbolises the purity of all the qualities of that suit; it is like getting a gift of the suit's fine points handed to one from out of thin air. The qualities of the goblets are emotionally rooted. It speaks of love and intimacy, caring and friendship, relationships and intuitions.

The al-ka shows you that you are being given, or soon will be given, a chance at the gifts of the heart. Emotional awareness is important, don't fight it; just allow your feelings to be known, at least to yourself for now. Look deep within yourself and realise what a gift it is to love and be loved, to start a new relationship or rekindle one that you have forgotten the importance of.

This card does not necessarily stand for the romantic varieties either, perhaps there is a good friend in your life who you need to learn to appreciate, or someone special is going to become friend and mentor to you. You need to connect with others, and a degree of caution is wise, but do not let caution smother all the wonders of the suit of goblets in your life. Learn to forgive, to let go of anger, to embrace all the nobler emotions and let those less noble leave you.

You will be a happier person for it, and healthier to boot. You would be amazed at how much it shows when a smile is truly genuine, and how many wonders of the heart it can bring you, from a good friend, to the love of a lifetime, to mending something you perhaps did not notice breaking, did not notice how much a part of you it was.
