The Manner In Which We Live Hello Readers, Ladies, Without fail I get up six days a week to prepare for my job. This entails dressing professionally, hair back, and light makeup. By the standards of where I work these are my requirements. I don`t recall wearing nor preparing 10 robes of concealment for this position, or veils that pin over my face. I do know that my dress code is mandated by the what the public wishes to see when they come to my studio to use my expertise to help them through their photography. With that said, I have had several conversations over the last week regarding the dress and composure of what a free woman should be. I am going to address this issue this month in detail. What women wear As I stroll down the mall and look at the latest fashion trend, I can safely say that it is very much retro to the 60s and 70s. Bell bottoms, sling shoulder tops with open backs, animal printed skirts, pants, and coats. Thick chunky heels, and the ever popular side zip boot. Is this popular free woman wear I ask myself, or would a slave choose to wear this? The answer is both. I have met with folks that believe in this philosophy and I have noted no different standard in the females dress code. I must also inject that to date I have never seen a free woman in veils in person. I have seen a few free gals that for the spirit of Gor, taken a jpg with veils on. Though the important part of that statement is, it was done in the spirit of Gor, not a requirement of Gor. So in summation it is safe to say, regardless of quotes, women wear what is according to their own personal likes. Be it the latest fashion trend out there on the market, or something they liked and stuck with through the years. It is not dominant though on the fact we believe in a philosophy. It is based on work requirements, and personal comfort. As for slaves, they will wear what is pleasing to the eye of who owns them. Composure of a Free Woman It has long been argued the manner in how a free woman will compose herself. It is a simple matter. A free woman will not act like a male, she isn't. She is a female and able to be seen as such. A lady who is a hostess to those entering her home, and a friend to the many who wish to lean on her shoulders. She is a multitasker in the aspect of running her home, and maintaining her family. She is mature in her experiences, and she is able to clearly think, and rationalize what needs to be done in her home, and in arranging schedules. She has voice, and more then often people listen to her range of ideas. She knows her place amongst men, and answers forthright and honestly. She works to improve herself daily to remain pleasing to herself, and possibly a mate, if one is in her life. Her pleasures come from seeing a productive household, happy offspring, and a strong relationship in her life. Again after a week of listening to opinions, and discussion I have come to my own thoughts on these matters. Some regular phrases used. 1. Free women are at the mercy of men. True, but not any man, men of the same beliefs, men of their home stone. They do not answer to every man that requires something of them. Free women however should be polite, and respectful of all. It is within her to be able to put situations into perspective, and simply leave an area that is detrimental to her. 2. Free women are frigid. True. To every other man but their mate, they should act accordingly. That includes free women who are married to non Gorean fellows. 3. Free women are slaves beneath their robes. Untrue, I believe above I have concluded effectively that while we are typing on this tool called online, it is doubtful at best we are in robes of concealment. Hence that statement is inaccurate to begin with. The other part of the statement is a blanket generality. I am certain some free women behind their many windows wish to be mastered secretly, that is the bad side of the coin, online. It does not justify the rest of the population though. 4. When addressing free women a FW should be placed before their name. Untrue, there is no place in the books, or anywhere else where this is a custom that holds truth. It is an ircism that was invented for whatever purpose that person felt. It is inaccurate however, and there is no backing to this measure in the least. 5. Free women wish to own male slaves so they too have some sort of sexual pleasure. Untrue, I have never owned a male, and never had a wish to do so. However, free women are entitled to own slaves. Female slaves seem to be more believable then males. I believe male slaves do not exist. In fiction they were forced to be slaves, and in reality we know that slaves beg the right to a collar, which states to me, a male slave represents the bdsm lifestyle, rather than this philosophy. 6. Free and slave, we are all women with the same desires. Untrue, we are not an assembly line awaiting our turn for attention. Each woman represents a different set of needs, values, and ideas. 7. Free women resent their robes. Untrue, since there are no robes to speak of, there is nothing to resent. I hope some of these areas have covered issues that some have been unclear on. It was my intent to show this month that IRC does often clash with the reality of living this axiom. In ending this article for the month of November I will add this. It is in the manner in which we live that dominates how we as women apply ourselves to living. It can not be accomplished online only, this medium is simply a tool in which to communicate. Our living is directed out there with the rest of the world. It is a make or break place, full of experiences, sorrow, and great joy. After great thought I honestly believe the best attribute to possess is patience. From this reason, logic, and a sense of self, root from the foundation. I am of Gor, it is my will be so.
