A Tarn’s Eye View Tal! Welcome to the 75th issue of The Gorean Voice. In this Issue The Art department features Vanion and BKHOOK. Vanion observes a Stolen Glance and shows Bracelets. BKHOOK presents an evocative view of Ko-ro-ban Myst. In the Booknotes department, Socrates continues Explorers of Gor as Tarl meets the villains and forms the team that will take an incredible journey. Mishel’s masterful Crossword Puzzles continue to test our readership, this month beginning Explorers of Gor. In the Philosophy department, Nyre presents A Code of Commitment, so essential to the successful living of all the other Codes. She emphasizes its heroic nature and calls upon us all to live up to being all we can be The concepts of “voice and voicelessness” were recently trendy in feminist literature. This month, kaylee{G} offers a Gorean perspective on that theme as it relates to relationship. So many counselors emphasize communication as a way of asserting, and kaylee affirms communication as an aspect of fitting together in the Slave Heart department. A recent editorial warned of the dangers of cyberpredators masquerading as Goreans. In Kajira Korner, kajira{Master} illustrates graphically the dangers of such predators and offers the soundest advice a person could ever hear.
Meditation: Coming to Know Ourselves There is a wonderful line where Jason, the archetype that makes us wince, is told, “You are a man. Perhaps it is time you made your own acquaintance.” Getting to know ourselves does not happen in a vacuum. The Philosophy department offering for this month shows that self-realization comes only through commitment, and the Slave Heart essay illustrates how even our communication can be shaped through relationship. The truth is that others help shape who we are. Nobody grows healthily in isolation. I found concepts within Norman's writings that not only resonated with perceptions I had grown up with but also validated them in the midst of a society which largely decries certain of those perceptions and values. I have been helped by others to articulate facets about who I am, and in affirming things I feel inside, others have helped me define and thereby better know myself. We help each other. We are men and women helping others to become better acquainted with themselves. As I get to know others who are like-minded, and as I read and re-read and observe with eyes unashamed of the truths perceived, I find that I have no wish to emulate others. Instead, I find a deeper satisfaction with being who I am. That, perhaps, is the greatest gift we can give each other. In being who we are and in sharing ourselves with others, we not only help people become better acquainted with themselves, but we also help others be more solid and happy at being who they are as individuals. The Gorean Voice has been helping people become better acquainted with themselves for years. In many ways, it is a Gorean “Welcome Wagon.” Consider whether you have something to contribute here that would help others to better make their own acquaintance.
Watch for This The Free Woman, Reviews, Poetry, Geography, and Health, departments will return, and the Interviews department will be making its reappearance. Because there are always proposed contributions in progress, The Gorean Voice is preparing other really nice surprises for you as well.
Possibilities for Contributors There are many possibilities for contributors. If any of these departments appeals to you as a place where you might find a writing or other artistic niche, and of course, if you have ideas for a new feature and are willing to help, then read the guidelines for authors and let us know! Although some possibilities are more appropriate for one person to manage over time, many departments benefit from many contributors. Even if you are thinking about contributing only once, say, through Gorean humor or a book review or perhaps a poem, you should still contact me.
I wish you well, Hersius
